Dropping In Water

In a previous post, I mentioned that when painting wet-in-wet, you need to have more paint in your brush than water.

Well, what would happen if you decided to paint with just water and no paint?

Sometimes some really cool things will happen.

Especially if the pigments like to push and pull each other.

It is similar to lifting with water but you are letting the water drop do all the work.

You just sit back and watch it create all on its own.

This is what the water drop will do to your wet-in-wet painting.

 

The backgrounds on several of my floral paintings are done using the wet-in-wet technique.

I always love dropping some water in just to see what happens.
