Today's
Sunday Secrets comes from Bernie in
She
asks,
"Do
you know anything about those boards with the plastic holders/clips for
stretching similar to
Guerilla Painter Watercolor Board? Are they effective?"
Thanks for the question, Bernie.
I
do know about those boards. I don't have one but several of my students have
used them.
There
are a few advantages to having a board like this.
The
boards are usually made of gatorboard which makes it lightweight and easy to
carry.
It
is also easier to use for those that find stapling paper to a board difficult.
It
will keep the paper tight and smooth when painting.
You
will also have a nice white border when the painting is complete.
However,
you need to be careful when painting very wet-in-wet or pouring paint.
The
paint will seep under the clamps and become trapped.
As
your paper is drying, large blooms will appear around the edges of your
painting.
Taping
the edges very well might prevent this from happening.
